Moving - Part 2 or is it Part 3
Our move continued on after Christmas as we left the day after Christmas to travel the additional 18 hours from Boise to Mesa. We questioned when to leave due to a snow storm that hit Christmas night but decided to go for it (and to give my Aunt Tami a ride to Salt Lake City) and hit the roads. We drove through the snow all the way from Boise almost to Saint George. A normally 9 hour drive that took us almost 12. We were feeling especially grateful that we weren't driving a uhaul truck and pulling a car behind it as we trudged along through the snow. ABF turned out to be a great blessing to our travels!
We made a quick stop in Salt Lake to drop my aunt off at the airport after being thoroughly entertained for a good portion of our drive. Tami was a champ and was great help with the girls.
St. George came after a long day of driving and we decided to call it a night and continue our drive off in the morning. We picked up a hotel room and settled in for the night. The girls weren't tired yet but Tim and I were. We tried and tried to put Sydo down for the night but struggled continuously as she kept climbing out of the playpen and trying to get into bed with us. After about ten tries we gave up and soon heard a thud as she hit the nightstand between the beds and started wailing.
Tim picked her up and slowly calmed her back down before putting her back in her bed and repeated the process once again. After falling off the bed the second time, she finally settled down and went to sleep. The next morning, we woke up and realized that there was blood all over Syd's pillow, Tim's shirt, and the bed. Her little thud wasn't quite so little.
She ended up with a good size gash along her forehead that looked quite nasty. (It makes us still feel like bad parents). Luckily Syd is a great trooper and is healing just fine.
Our drive continued on from St. George down into Phoenix the next day. We drove along and along, passing Las Vegas enjoying the wonderful sunshine when all of a sudden Tim starting shouting Mayday, Mayday over our walkie talkies. Our girls has a tendency to get carsick and Syd had had enough and lost her breakfast all over herself and her carseat.
Pulling over on the side of the highway to clean up puke wasn't on our list of things to do but had to be done. After round one we stopped at the next big town and decided to have some lunch. We went into to let the girls run around a little bit and without further ado, Syd lost her little bits of lunch all over my lap. Our poor little girl was miserable and we still had three hours of driving left.
The girls finally fell asleep and we finished our drive fairly uneventfully until we pulled off the freeway in Mesa when Macy proceeded to lose her lunch. Our poor kids had had enough (and us too) of driving and we are super excited to be done with our travels a mere 36 hours later.
Our 28 foot moving trailer arrived on the 31st of the month and we are now officially moved in with Tim's parents for a few months, our stuff in storage, and living out of the basement until we can decided where we want to live.
