One of Macy's new favorite things is to spit all over the place. It is so cute. (Why is that when babies spit or poop or puke that we always think it is cute? Wierd, eh.)

Happy 26th Birthday!

Birthdays are a good annual reminder to do a little inward reflection. Tim turned 26 this week. 25 was pretty good to us, and things keep looking up for year 26. His birthday involved the standard greetings from family members and close friends, delicious strawberry lemon cupcakes for lunch, and the anticipation was just killing him as he waited for dinner at Todaii. Overall, it got me thinking about why I love Tim:

T - Talented (Mostly when it comes to teeth).

I - Ice Cream (Just about every night).

M - Manly (Sure there is an occasional questionable tendency but overall he's pretty hetero).

O - Old Spice (That's what I smell when I see him off to school in the morning).

T - Timid but not (It is hard to explain, but if you know him, then you know what I mean).

H - Honest (Don't ask him a question you don't want the answer).

Y - Youthful (I don't know if this kid will ever grow up).

Picture People

Macy and I made the trek across town to Picture People. I had heard great things about them, the free pictures, and a fantastic discount. They really lived up to the standards I had, even though Macy didn't want to smile for the lady.

Happy Easter-

Even though our family is small we wanted Easter to be big. Holiday celebrations are always more fun when you celebrate with a kid. The importance and reason of the Holiday is even more apparent. Even though Macy won't remember any of it, we were sure to involve her in all of our activities.

Easter wouldn't be complete without dyeing Easter eggs, Easter baskets, and goodies.

We even had an Easter egg hunt inside (living in Portland you can't rely on the weather to be nice).

I have had many requests from Grandma Suzy for pictures of Macy in her first Easter dress.

On a more serious note, I love Easter. I love what it means. I love Christ. I love its symbols of new life, and repentance. I love having this special day every year to remind us of Him.

The ZOO

Today was another beautiful day... So beautiful in fact that Jen and I made a dash for the zoo only to get there and have to park like a mile away. That is the thing with Oregon that nice days come so infrequently that when they do come It was ridiculous but our day was filled with sunshine, laughter, and cool animals.

As we rounded the first corner of the zoo, Jen pulled out her camera so proud of herself that she remembered both her camera and video camera and her batteries were even charged only to realize that she had left her memory card at home. Being a good friend, I thought she can use mine and we can just copy pictures when we get home... I pulled out my camera, turned it on, and looked down to realize that the memory was full. Wierd, I thought since I had just downloaded the pictures off of it. Well, I too had left my memory card at home in the computer. Sorry there aren't very many pictures, we were limited to the 5 pictures on my camera's memory and 8 on hers.

He loved posing for everyone... or maybe he just protecting his female friends from the mass of people.

The giraffe is my favorite animal. He was even outside today enjoying the sunshine.

What cute babies... I don't think that Macy and Cohen really knew where we were or what was going on but Jen and I still had fun.

Welcome Spring...

Spring is sprung, the grass is riz. Perhaps the greatest of all seasons, Spring marks the end of the cold, wet, and dreary and the start of new life and activity. Just a few reason why I love spring...

The sun comes out... FINALLY. After months of pale, white, Oregon skin,
I can feel the warmth of sunny clear skies.

You may not think that spring has a sound but if you go to a park and sit for a while you will hear kids playing tag and swinging on swings with a back and forth tennis match in the background.

It may sound corny but spring even has a smell. Not just the hayfever flowers sprouting and the fresh cut grass but the family next door grilling up burgers.

Spring also opens up a whole new bag of activities. I can go jogging without a rain jacket, Tim busts out the golf clubs, Macy puts on her mini skirt, and we even take Misha out on a leash.

I love SPRING!

4 MONTHS

Macy Girl is already four months old. She goes to the doctor on Monday and I'll update her stats then! She is such a good girl and has been sleeping through the night for a few months now and has finally discovered the schedule. I love it! It seems like she is always smiling now and you can't forget her amazing giggles. Here are a few pictures of her fun adventures at the Butchart Gardens in Victoria, B.C., hanging out with her friends, and much more.

MACY UPDATE:
Macy weighed in this morning at the doctor. She is now 14 lbs, 10 oz (75th percentile), 25-1/4 inches long (75th percentile), and a head circumference of 42 cm (90th percentile).

Spring Break 2009

Seattle has been on our list of places to visit ever since we moved to Portland a good three years ago. It took until we had a little girl and some time off school before we made the short three hour drive up North. With weeks of planning and a folder full of fun things to do, we took off...

We spent our first night in Port Angeles... Anybody recognize it from an ever so popular book and now movie? We even passed by the restaurant that advertised: "Home of Bella and Edward's first date." (If you don't know... Port Angeles is from the movie Twilight.)

We took a ferry across the border to visit beautiful Victoria Island in Canada. I realized that it was pretty much the same as the US except that the exchange makes our money worth a little more. Victoria is the cutest little touristy town. Its main road downtown is lined with coffee shops, local bakeries, chocolate shops, and little touristy stores. I kind of wish that we would have spent the night there to have the full experience.

rder=0></P>The Butchart Gardens are famous on Victoria Island and they are beautiful. Sure it would have been nice if we had gone in July or August (lots of the flowers weren't in bloom yet, but you can imagine). Atleast they had an indoor spring exhibit that made up for missing the Rose Garden. Tim's new nickname for Macy is Daisy.
On our drive back to Seattle we passed this... A boyhood fantasy come true. They actually served ice cream from this old train car. I can think of no cooler place to set up an ice cream shop. Seattle was a blast. We took this goofy DUCK TOUR around the city with Captain Greg Garious. Our little truck here even turned into a boat for easy cruising around Lake Union. To truly experience Seattle, we felt obligated to walk around the Space Needle for a bit and then hit up Starbucks for hot drinks to stay warm under our umbrella. Perhaps the coolest part of Seattle was PIKE PLACE MARKET. It was this huge outdoor market that stretched for three blocks, and it had everything ranging from baked goods and fresh fruit to homemade clothing and imported insense. We even got a glimpse of their famous fish tossing (I don't know why they throw the fish but it is cool). To top it all off we took a stroll down the board walk and found a carousel and some hot clam chowder.
It was raining when we got to the temple, so we got out of the car just long enough to take this picture.

Woodland Park Zoo was the last stop on our journey. It was a little wet which made their indoor exhibits very attractive. I was most impressed by the Komodo Dragon, Snow Leopard (just like on Animal Planet) and the rain forest Monkeys.
