Summer Vacation

On our way to our gate in the Portland airport, Britt and Calie proposed a challenge... they dared me to do a cartwheel down the moving walkway. Of course, being one not to turn down a dare I did it and won myself a frosty (although I think the girls just wanted some chicken nuggets).

Within an hour of our arrival to Arizona, our adventure began as we were rear-ended on our way home (and by a Prius...I thought I had left Oregon). The accident wasn't a big deal, nobody was hurt, and it was actually kinda fun. The best part, though, was seeing the two policemen that pulled up, both of them sporting a classic "Reno-911" mustache (I wish we had taken a picture with them... they looked something like this).

It felt like we spent more time eating than anything else. We toured the valley's finest foods, visiting Nielson's frozen custard, In 'n Out, California Pizza Kitchen, Bajio Grill, Macaroni Grill, and some bizzare Korean restaurant.

The Arizona temple is beautiful year round. The best desert picture we took was actually on the temple grounds (we tried to hide light posts, etc. behind the cactus).

We had fun in the desert riding ATV's and enjoying some pretty scenery.

Monday night, my dad took us on a tour of the East Valley. I had really forgotten how big it was. We spent over four hours driving around Scottsdale and through downtown Phoenix showing Calie the beauty. You wouldn't believe just how many resorts there are out there. Our last stop on the way was South Mountain (where we used to have Thanksgiving dinner when I was a kid). Lucky us, we caught the sunset during the fall equinox (I'm not totally sure what that means.)

Exciting times....

For all of those who don't know, during dental school you have to take the National Board Exam to get your license. Tim just completed the first part of three, two weeks ago. Friday was an exciting day for us because Tim got his scores back and PASSED!!!! What a relief, hey- But, the good news doesn't just stop there. A few months ago we applied for a scholarship program through the National Health Service Corps (NHSC for short) and have been waiting very patiently to find out whether we got it or not. Finally, Friday as well (talk about a good day) we found out that we got the scholarship!!!!! Hurray!

This one is for Ashley

I was talking to my sister, Ashley the other day and she keeps asking me for updated pictures of my belly. She is excited to be an aunt and can't wait. So, here Ash this one is just for you. I'm officially 27 weeks here and in my third trimester. Three months and counting!!!

I can't believe that it has been three years...

Perhaps our favorite place to go in Oregon is a little town called Lincoln City. Tim and I just spent last weekend on the coast for our anniversary. Highlights in lincoln City include hours of shopping at their huge outlet mall, fun local shops and cafes, and Tim's favorite kite flying (unlike other beaches the Oregon Coast is too cold to swim; however, it is always windy. So, Tim bought a stunt kite and had at it.)

They had these cool kites flying on the beach. Actually the huge rainbow one is called a spinner but you get the main idea. They are pretty awesome if I do say so myself.

So, we are a bit cheezy but I couldn't help it. We got matching $5.o0 Oregon shirts (at Walgreens) to show off our state pride once we graduate from Dental School. Go Oregon!

Last but not least, we made one final stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory for some delicious ice cream straight from the dairy. Don't forget the cheese curds!

Our Crib

Okay, so I know we are a little ahead of ourselves since she isn't due for just under three months but we couldn't help it when our crib went on sale. Plus we were just a bit excited!!!! All of these new things, it just doesn't get old.

The cutest headbands

I got this cute idea from my cousin, Tiffany and couldn't wait to try it. So, little Misha got to be my guinea pig. One great thing about these headbands is the bows and flowers are clip-ons, so you can exchange them to go with different outfits.

Pedicures

You know how girls always enjoy a good spa pedicure, well just last week we decided to take Tim and Anthony with us for a new adventure.
Here is a bit of what Tim had to say about his first spa experience...


It was awkwardly relaxing... soothingly memorable. First, I sat in a full body massage chair with my eyes half shut, and my feet soaking in hot, bubbly, sweet-scented water. Suddenly, a little Asian women appeared and began working on my feet: trimming... cleaning... massaging. A half hour passed instantaneously, and she eventually spoke. A bit unsure of how to give a man a pedicure and with her limited selection of English vocabular she asked me what color I wanted... I went with a shiny clear.

It was amazing. I truly underestimated the power of the pedicure.

Our first big purchase as soon to be parents!

We have been spending quite a bit of time looking for a set that would work well for our little girl now and our other future children. We were out shopping just yesterday and fell in love with this bedding set and just had to buy it. Our first big purchase as soon to be parents, it's so exciting...

I just love the kangaroo on the bumpers... It goes great with the stars and the different colors. It is going to be so cute. I just can't wait until we get our crib and can get everything set up!!!!!
